Hope as an Anchor

by: Caroline Hand //// May 10, 2021

“We who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged.

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm & secure.”

Hebrews 6:18-19

Hope like a lantern.

A warm generous light.

The hope light that leads me,

which shows me which path is right.

I follow, I obey.

Her ways lead me higher and deeper

And further than I thought I could go.

Hope like cream

Mixed in with a daily cup of coffee.

Adding a pure richness

To my life right now & up ahead.

I wait in joyful anticipation for the coming good.

Hope like an anchor

The boat of my soul

Is firmly and securely resting

Never afraid; always relaxed

In the arms of God.

Hope like a feast.

Tasting and celebrating

The goodness of the meal,

the provisions placed before me.

An abundance I can feel.

Hope like a vine.

A tiny branch am I

Relying fully on the strength beneath me.

Abiding consistently in which way I must grow.

Closer, closer to the sun.

Fuller, fuller I become.

I look towards the mountains & hope.

One day I’ll climb them.

One day I’ll know,

Which path is mine to explore.

As for now, I wait in hope,

Confident in my anticipation

of coming good.
