The Prince and the Prayer

Long ago there lived a prince… who loved to horseback ride and pray and dance. Occasionally, he did all three at the same time. But usually, he did them one at a time. 

One day, deep in the woods, which he had gotten to by horseback and dancing, he found himself praying for his kingdom. 

That friends would stop fighting.

That the poor would have food.

That wars would be finished.

And he found himself wishing he had answers to all of these problems. 

When all of a sudden a deep, booming voice sounded like thunder in his thoughts: 

“PRINCE- YOU HAVE FOUND FAVOR WITH YOUR GOD- WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE MOST OF ALL?”

“Wisdom!” the prince spoke instantly. “I want to help friends stop fighting, the poor to have food, and wars to finish.”

The voice boomed back with emotion this time, 

“Dear prince, you could have asked for riches or more land to rule, but instead you ask for wisdom to govern your people well? How pleased am I, your God- I will give you them all.”

So, from that day on, the prince just knew how to get friends laughing, the poor eating, and peace abounding. And he still had time to horseback ride, pray, and dance. Sometimes, all at the same time.
